JOAN Salo's works are unconventional in that he uses ink on the canvas, rather than the more traditional medium of paint. He uses repetitive strokes, subtle linear patterns that recall the prints textile yarn, but also scrambled channels of video, a digital tapestries and even electroencephalographic meters. Looking at these paintings they converge dual impressions of precision and lyricism, textured warmth and cold calculation, the result of artisanal procedure (pen on canvas) that achieves a highly accurate result.

Joan Salo works and lives between Barcelona and Berlin, and has a BFA from the University of Barcelona. He has been shortlisted for a large-scale international project, “100 Painters of Tomorrow”. Joan was also selected as "One To Watch" presenting some of the most exciting emerging talent on Saatchi.com. He has exhibited extensively in both group and solo shows throughout Spain, Italy, New York, and London, and was a finalist at SWAB, Barcelona’s annual international art fair.
